The Lagos State Command police operatives has uncovered a baby factory where young girls are abducted and recruited to give birth in the Afirugbin area of Ijegun, where 10 young girls was rescued and three suspects arrested.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the state police command, confirmed the arrest of the operators and the rescue of the victims to newsmen on Monday.
According to Hundeyin, “On April 5, 2025, at about 1400 hours, credible intelligence was received about a baby factory in Afurugbin, Ijegun area. Based on the report, detectives from the command were quickly mobilized to the scene. The operators, Mariam Vincent, Orie Ruth, and Ifeanyi Ujunwa, were immediately arrested.
“During the operation at the baby factory, the police rescued Precious, 24; Magdalene, 25; Adaobi, 23; Princess, 22; Ifeanyi, 25; Amaka, 26; and three children: Destiny, 7; Miracle, 5; and Success, 2, who were held in captivity. The children were reportedly abducted from different parts of Lagos State by the operators to set up the baby factory.
He also added, “During interrogations, the suspects confessed to abducting their victims from different areas of Lagos State for the purpose of running a baby factory.”
All the rescued people are now getting proper care and support and investigation is still ongoing and the suspects will face charges in court.
