The Police Service Commission (PSC) has dismissed Mrs. Betty Enekpen Isokpan Otimenyin, the Commissioner of Police for Edo State, following the killing of 16 Hausa-Fulani travelers in Uromi on March 27, 2025.
Otimenyin’s dismissal comes barely three months after her appointment on January 16, 2025. She replaced Peter Umoru Ozigi, who retired from service.
The PSC has appointed Monday Agbonika, a veteran police officer with over 32 years of experience, as the new Commissioner of Police for Edo State. Agbonika was formerly in charge of the Mounted Troop and Force Equitation at Force HQ, Abuja.
The new commissioner has been tasked with tackling crime proactively, restoring public trust, ensuring transparency, and investigating the recent killings urgently. Agbonika has pledged to act within the law and coordinate closely with the Inspector General of Police.
