President Tinubu’s administration has commenced the implementation of the Technical and Vocational Education Training revamp which seeks to make vocational education more attractive to young Nigerians by offering a N45,000 monthly stipend payment to students.
He had earlier approved a N120 billion grant to support the new TVET programme and the funds will be disbursed through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (@NELFUND); this time a grant and not a loan.
Part of the TVET revamp also includes restructuring of the curriculum to prioritize practical learning, dedicating 80% of the curriculum to hands-on training and only 20% to theoretical learning.
