NAPTIP Invites Nigerian Rapper Speed Darlington for Questioning, Over Admission Of Sexual Relation With A Minor

National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Person (NAPTIP) in a statement on Thursday revealed it has sent an invite to a Nigerian content creator and rapper Speed Okoye known as Akpi or Speed Darlington over sexual relationship with a minor.

The agency wrote: “Mr. Darlington Okoye (AKA Speed Darlington) is urged to respond to the official invitation issued on May 28, 2025, regarding a viral video and others in which he admitted to sexually abusing a minor. Failure to respond may lead to further action.

“The NAPTIP Cybercrime Response Team has commenced investigations into the disturbing Instagram live video and other videos made by the same individual. We at NAPTIP are committed to a world where children are safe and free from all forms of violence.”

On Tuesday Akpi in a video where he mainly speak in Igbo admitted that he had sexual intercourse with an underage girl in a hotel. He claimed he gave her ₦2,000 afterwards, following bloodstains on the bed sheet.

Narrating the incident, Speed Darlington said: “Because the thing dey somehow to tell an adult to come and clean blood that I brought out of the body of a 15-year-old girl. I can never work for anybody; I only work for myself. “Before they could come to change the sheets for me, I dash am N2000.”

Reacting to several outrage and calls to arrest the controversial rapper, social media users tagged him a pedophile while urging necessary agencies to look into his utterance.

Responding to Nigerians’ tag was Lagos DSVA on Wednesday revealing that: “The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, DSVA, is aware of the disturbing video currently circulating online, in which a popular entertainer allegedly admits to engaging in unlawful sexual activity with a minor.

“While the individual in question did not specify the location of the incident during the Instagram Live session, we must clarify that the DSVA’s jurisdiction is limited to Lagos State.” The body clarified.

Speaking further on its efforts to investigate the issue, the body said: “Given the above, and in line with our commitment to justice, we have escalated the situation to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP). @naptipnigeria”

”The Lagos State Government reaffirms our zero-tolerance stance against all forms of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence. It will continue to advocate for accountability and protecting every Nigerian child.” Lagos DSVA reiterated.

Akpi has since retracted his utterance saying that it was nothing but content, and he only made it controversial to generate engagement from the public, however NAPTIP is having none of it, asking the entertainer to appear at its office in Abuja on Friday with his legal representative and failure to do so “ will result in further legal action.”
