Liverpool lifted the Premier League title on the final day of the season, while Arsenal, Manchester City, Newcastle United, and Chelsea secured their places in next season’s UEFA Champions League. Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest settled for UEFA Europa League and UEFA Europa Conference League qualification, respectively.
The final day was packed with drama and emotion. Chelsea edged Nottingham Forest 1–0, while Newcastle returned to the Champions League after a one-season absence despite losing 1–0 to Everton — thanks to Manchester United’s 2–0 win over Aston Villa, which reshuffled the top-four picture.
Manchester City finished strongly with a convincing 2–0 win over Fulham. Meanwhile, Arsenal sealed second place following a 2–1 win against Southampton.
Tottenham Hotspur suffered a 4–1 loss to Brighton, but the mood at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium remained celebratory. The club and fans marked their first trophy in 17 years after winning the UEFA Europa League final against Manchester United earlier in the week. Players and their families celebrated the achievement on the pitch following the game.
Manchester United were the only “big six” club to miss out on European qualification, finishing a disappointing 15th. Head coach Rúben Amorim addressed the Old Trafford crowd after the final whistle, offering an emotional message:
“I want to apologise for this season. I am really disappointed with the team.
Secondly, I want to say thank you. We are very grateful for your support over the season. I know it was very hard in many games.
Now we have to make a choice. Do we get stuck in the past, because this season is in the past — it is over
We fight each other or we stick together and move forward.
Six months ago, I said the storm is coming. Today, after this disastrous season, I want to tell you that the good days are coming.
If there is one club in the world that has proved in the past that they can overcome any situation or disaster, it is our club. It is Manchester United Football Club.
Thank you very much — see you next season.”
At Anfield, the home of the champions, there was a carnival-like atmosphere as Virgil van Dijk lifted the Premier League trophy in front of a full house. Emotions ran high as Trent Alexander-Arnold bid farewell to the club he joined as a six-year-old. In tears, he shared a heartfelt message with fans:
“From the bottom of my heart, I hope that one day the fans and supporters will recognise what I did for the team.
There was never a minute I didn’t think about the team. Since I was six years old, it’s always been about Liverpool.
To get the reception I got means a lot to me. I never felt so loved! From the bottom of my heart, I hope the fans recognise the hard work I did over the years.”
It has been an incredible ten months of Premier League football — filled with drama, unforgettable scenes, tears, and laughter.
Several legends signed off on their careers at the end of the season. Crystal Palace icon Joel Ward played his final game for the Eagles. Jamie Vardy bid farewell to Leicester City. At Manchester United, Jonny Evans, Victor Lindelöf, and Christian Eriksen all said their goodbyes. Trent Alexander-Arnold departed boyhood club Liverpool after 20 years, and West Ham United waved goodbye to Aaron Cresswell, Łukasz Fabiański, Vladimír Coufal, and Danny Ings.
