Yet to be identified officers of the Nigerian police allegedly chased suspected internet fraudsters — yahoo boys— in a car at Gbagi market, Ibadan, firing at their tires, but tragically hit a 14-year-old secondary school student heading to his WAEC exam by “mistake”
The police officers were reportedly chasing suspected yahoo boys at Gbagi, however when they failed to catch up with them, they resorted to shooting their tires.
One of the bullets went straight and hit a 14yr old boy, sitting in the car with his dad and twin brother, waiting for the traffic light to turn green, as they were going to their WAEC exam centre.
The victim was rushed him to a clinic where he was declared dead upon arrival.
Agitated youths took the corpse to the state secretariat in Agodi, for Governor Seyi Makinde’s intervention.
No official press statement has been released. The body has now been deposited at Adeoyo Morgue.
