Nigeria’s head coach, Eric Chelle, has named his squad for the upcoming Unity Cup, set to take place at the GTech Community Stadium in Brentford, England. The friendly tournament will feature Ghana, Jamaica, Nigeria, and Trinidad & Tobago, providing an opportunity for participating teams to test new strategies and players.
Chelle has taken a bold approach, calling up nine new players alongside eleven home-based talents as he seeks to expand his player pool ahead of future competitive fixtures.
Among the new invitees are:
Waliu Ojetoye (Ikorodu City captain): A solid right-back.
Collins Ugwueze (Enugu Rangers): A composed midfielder with excellent passing range.
Saviour Isaac (Enugu Rangers): A creative midfielder with nine goals and three assists this season.
Felix Agu (Werder Bremen): A versatile full-back who primarily plays on the left.
Ifeanyi Onyebuchi (Enugu Rangers): A commanding centre-back.
Junior Nduka (Remo Stars): A key figure in Remo Stars’ title-winning campaign.
Abubakar Adamu (Plateau United): A promising talent in the domestic league.
Sikiru Alimi (Remo Stars): A reliable goal scorer.
Musa Ahmed: Returns to the fold after an impressive run.
Notably, some experienced names make their return to the national setup, including Ahmed Musa, Kelechi Iheanacho, and Oluwasemilogo Ajayi.
