Victor Osimhen added another piece of silverware to his collection on Sunday as Galatasaray defeated Kayserispor to clinch the Turkish Super Lig title—just four days after winning the Turkish Cup.
Coming into the fixture needing only a win to be crowned champions, Galatasaray delivered with a dominant performance. Osimhen opened the scoring in the 26th minute, converting a cross from Gabriel Sara. His goal sparked a heartwarming moment as his daughter, Hailey, announced his name to the entire stadium.
The strike was the Nigerian’s 36th goal of the season. He is now two goals clear of Mario Jardel, who had held the record for the most goals by a foreign player in a single Turkish league campaign for 24 years.
Just three minutes later, Barış Alper Yılmaz doubled Galatasaray’s lead, giving the hosts firm control of the match. In the closing stages, veteran goalkeeper Fernando Muslera stepped up to convert a penalty, sealing a comprehensive win and wrapping up Galatasaray’s 25th league title.
The triumph marked Galatasaray’s third consecutive league title under manager Okan Buruk, who now boasts four Turkish Super Lig titles as a coach—his first coming with İstanbul Başakşehir in 2020.
With this latest championship, Galatasaray have secured their place in the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League.
