Alcaraz Stuns Sinner from Two Sets Down to Clinch Fifth Grand Slam Title

Carlos Alcaraz produced a remarkable comeback to defeat Jannik Sinner and successfully defend his French Open title. The Spaniard triumphed 4-6, 6-7 (4⁄7), 6-4, 7-6 (7⁄3), 7-6 (10⁄2) in a thrilling final that showcased the grit and brilliance of two of the sport’s brightest stars.

It was the first Grand Slam final meeting between Alcaraz and Sinner, and the showdown lived up to the hype. Alcaraz rallied from two sets down and saved three championship points to seal the win, further cementing what promises to be one of tennis’ defining rivalries in the years ahead.

The victory marks Alcaraz’s fifth Grand Slam title and his second consecutive Roland Garros crown, making him the first man to successfully defend the title since Rafael Nadal in 2021.

After defeating world number one Sinner, Alcaraz said:

“Every match I play against him is important. This is the first match in a Grand Slam final — hopefully not the last — because every time we face each other, we raise our level to the top. If you want to win Grand Slams, you have to beat the best tennis players in the world.”

Following his win, Real Madrid also congratulated the 21-year-old, who is a known supporter of the club:

“Congratulations, dear Carlos, on your second consecutive Roland Garros win and your fifth Grand Slam title, earned in such a thrilling way. All Madridistas are happy and proud of this brilliant achievement by one of our own.”
