Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has reported that Mike Maignan’s move to Chelsea is off. The player will not be joining the Blues, as both sides could not reach an agreement.
AC Milan were unwilling to sell for anything less than £25 million. Chelsea felt the price was too high, given that the French international had only one year left on his contract. The club also believed Milan were adding a “Club World Cup tax,” and therefore, they decided to walk away from the deal.
Chelsea will now rely on Petrović, Sánchez, Jørgensen, and Mike Penders for the Club World Cup.
