Emma Raducanu Becomes British Number One, Overtakes Boulter

Emma Raducanu has reclaimed the British number one spot after a two-year absence—the last time she held the position was in June 2023.

She overtakes Katie Boulter, the former 2023 Lexus Nottingham Open champion.

Raducanu, the 2021 US Open champion, has climbed to No. 36 in the world rankings. She has enjoyed a relatively successful season, reaching the quarter-finals of the WTA 1000 Miami Open—where she defeated world No. 9 Emma Navarro and Qatar Open champion Amanda Anisimova—and also made it to the third round of both the Italian Open and the Australian Open.

Speaking about her return to the top of British tennis, Raducanu said:

“It’s nice, but I wouldn’t say it’s the most important thing for me. Having Katie in front—it was nice for me to have something to chase. Now I’m sure she’s going to enjoy that with me. The grass season is still young.”
