Fiorentina have completed the signing of veteran striker Edin Džeko on a free transfer following the expiry of his contract with Fenerbahçe.

The 39-year-old Bosnian forward has signed a one-year deal with the Serie A side, with an option to extend until June 2027. He will earn around €1.5 million net per season.

New Fiorentina manager Stefano Pioli played a key role in convincing Džeko to join the club, assuring him of a vital role in his project.

Džeko, who has won ten team trophies in his career, will be hoping to help Pioli secure silverware in his debut season as Fiorentina boss. The club is aiming to end a long trophy drought, with their last major title dating back to 2001.
