Pyramids have won the CAF Champions League for the first time in their history after a 3-2 aggregate victory over South African side Mamelodi Sundowns.
The first leg ended in a 1-1 draw in Pretoria. In the second leg, the Egyptian side secured a 2-1 win on the night. Fiston Mayele gave Pyramids the lead in the 23rd minute, a goal that took him to the top of the CAF Champions League scoring chart with six goals.
Ahmed Samy doubled Pyramids’ lead in the 56th minute with a header from a free kick.
Iqraam Rayners gave Sundowns hope in the 75th minute, but Pyramids held on for a historic victory.
Pyramids have now become the fourth Egyptian club to win the CAF Champions League and the 27th club overall to lift the trophy.
A beautiful job done by coach Krunoslav Jurčić, who delivered the Champions League title within a year.
