Vigilante Arrested For Allegedly Beating Father Of Two To Death In Rivers

A member of the Organised Security Planning and Advisory Committee (OSPAC), Godspower, and his colleague, J Boy, allegedly beat a father of two, Confidence Ikechi, to death.

According to Chiwenkpe Ikechi, elder brother to the deceased, told newsmen on Sunday that when his late brother closed from work around 11pm, on Friday, he returned to his compound where he had altercation with a lady identified as one of his co-tenants who insulted Confidence, embarrassing him, calling him a drunkard and saying he is smelling.

The altercation began when the lady poured saliva on Confidence and slapped him, prompting him to slap her back. The lady then decided to call her boyfriend, Godspower who is a vigilante personnel, who later drove into the compound with his colleague, ‘J Boy’, and started hitting the deceased with machete and sticks till he bled and died.

Ikechi who narrated the incident said, the next morning, he rushed to the Police station to report the matter, when he returned from the Police station, the OSPAC personnel also came back to confirm if the young boy was actually dead and he also dropped message that “Confidence brothers and the community could not do anything to them.”

Police Spokesman in Rivers State, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, who confirmed the killing revealed the suspects had been arrested and transferred to State Criminal Investigative and Department (SCID) for investigation.
