Yes “No farmers, no Nation” is a popular adage that aptly captures the strategic importance of agriculture in our national development.
As the tempo of political activities towards the 2027 elections heightened across the country, politicians and indeed the different regions of the country are busy scheming and strategizing on how to drive maximum benefits from the elections .
For Northern Nigeria, nothing is more important to the region than a revival and accelerated development of the agricultural sector which has suffered serious neglect over the years.
Therefore, agricultural development should be the cornerstone and main agenda of the North as we match towards the 2027 general elections.
The North must unanimously take a positive position of honour, equity and positive hope backed by unity in diversity by supporting the most positive political alliance in Nigerian political history to get its agricultural agenda fully implemented.
Yes let the North come out united and boldly tell President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that the North is ready to fully support and endorse his second term bid provided he too will reciprocate the gesture by supporting it with a comprehensive Marshal Plan in basic education, agricultural mechanisation animal husbandry and rural development, reinforced by a viably prosperity driven pragmatic Youth and women’s empowerment and entrepreneurial as well as sustainable economic self-help and accelerated development programs.
This is because Northern Nigeria is a predominantly agrarian community and there’s no Nation in the world that achieves meaningful industrial development and sustainable economic self-sufficiency through reliance on foreign markets without massive amount of inputs from its farming Communities.
The North should tell the President that 2027 is a year for rural renewal and hope alive for the peasant masses, provided he makes his Renewal of Hope Agenda to favor our rural people.
The President should also be told that all year round agriculture is possible in Nigeria and this is our single and the most important major project in the life of most of the Northern peasant farmers.
I believe that his pro- Talakawa-batified Presidential road to 2027 is assured if he makes a definite decision to motivate peasant farmers with a pragmatic Marshal Plan for the poor and poverty ravaged North come 2027.
In conclusion, let President Tinubu review his policy profile because it should not be too-top heavy like the PDP’s Manifesto which is in favour of urban lumpens and unpatriotic characters.
This is my take that with renewal of hope vision and collective support and patriotic concentration drive, PBAT can take Nigeria and the entire African continent to the promised land inshallah!
