Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday launched an attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Parliament over his silence on US President Donald Trump’s claims of having brokered a ceasefire between India and Pakistan.

He dares Modi to call US president Trump a liar and the debunk the said claim, in his words: “Trump has already claimed 29 times that he stopped a war between India and Pakistan. By the time I finish my speech, he might claim it for the 30th time!

“If Trump is lying and Modi has 50% courage of Indira Gandhi Ji, he should stand in the Parliament and say “Donald Trump—you are a LIAR”.

On Trump’s repeated claim of mediating between India and Pakistan, Congress leader Pawan Khera  said, “Rahul (Gandhi) Ji gave the Prime Minister a golden opportunity yesterday, but he didn’t take it. Now, the PM seems to have a snake named Trump wrapped around his neck, one that keeps whispering things into his ear.

“The PM could’ve thrown that snake off yesterday and simply said, ‘Trump is lying.’ Just one sentence was needed. But he lacked the courage to say it. And so, Trump has now repeated for the 30th time that he arranged the ceasefire. If we only hear about ceasefire declarations from Trump himself, why shouldn’t we believe him?

While BJP MP Kangana Ranaut stated, “He gave a befitting reply to all those who were trying to mislead people. They gave an open challenge to PM Modi to say that there was no intervention of any other country, and PM Modi said it in the House that no world leader has intervened between India and Pakistan for the ceasefire…”
