The operatives of the Lagos Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have arrested a 47-year-old suspect, Taiwo Hassan, in connection with stealing goods from trucks transiting out of Apapa and Lagos .
Hassan was apprehended around 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2025, while loading stolen goods from a loaded truck in Costain.
The suspect’s arrest followed sustained efforts to bust the activities of the gang stealing goods from loaded trucks transiting out of Apapa and Lagos.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Hassan and his gang specialize in stealing goods from trucks transporting consignments out of Lagos while on transit at night. They would load the stolen goods into another vehicle without the knowledge of the truck driver.
The police recovered a Sienna vehicle with stolen items, including 10 cartons of Top Cafe 3-in-1 coffee, 7 pieces of stethoscope (Littlman Classic II brand), doctors’ manuals, medical textbooks, and 2 pouches of theater kits.
Hassan’s accomplice, Sheriff, bolted when he spotted the police.
The Commander, RRS, CSP Shola Jejeloye, has directed that the suspect be charged to court while efforts are in progress to arrest the other members of the gang.
