President Bola Tinubu has renamed the University of Maiduguri to Muhammadu Buhari University in honour of the late former President, who passed away on Sunday at the age of 82.

The announcement was made during a special FEC session on Thursday, as part of national tributes for Buhari, who ruled Nigeria both as a military Head of State (1983–85) and a civilian President (2015–23).
