Sunderland have reached an agreement with Brighton for the signing of Ivorian international Simon Adingra in a deal worth €21 million plus €3 million in add-ons.

Personal terms were not an issue, as they had already been agreed with the player.

The 23-year-old featured in 29 Premier League matches last season but started only 12, which led him to pursue a move in search of more regular playing time.

Under Roberto De Zerbi during the 2023/2024 campaign, Adingra played 31 matches and started 25, showcasing his ability to perform at a high level. That same season, he won the Africa Cup of Nations with the Ivory Coast and was named the tournament’s Best Young Player.
