Super Eagles Legendary Goalkeeper Peter Rufai Passes On At 61

Ex-Super Eagles goalkeeper, Peter Rufai, has died at the age of 61 after a long battle with illness.

He played for Nigeria at two different World Cups and won the 1994 AFCON with the Super Eagles.

He featured for clubs such as AS Dragons FC de l’Ouémé, Lokeren, Beveren, Go Ahead Eagles, Farense, Deportivo La Coruña, and Gil Vicente.

Rufai was known as “Dodo Mayana” by his teammates during his playing days, and as “Keeper Rufai” by the general public. He served as a pace-setter for Nigerian goalkeepers who came after him.
