WAFCON 2025 Quarter-Final Fixtures Confirmed

The quarter-final lineup for the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) has been confirmed, with eight nations now set to battle for a place in the semi-finals.

Nigeria will lock horns with Zambia on July 18 at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca. The Super Falcons are looking to reach the semi-final as they continue their hunt for a record-extending 10th continental title—la décima. Zambia, however, will pose a familiar threat, having defeated Nigeria in the third-place match of the previous WAFCON edition.

Hosts Morocco will take on Mali in the second quarter-final clash at the Stade Olympique in front of what is expected to be a packed crowd. The Atlas Lionesses head into the match as strong favourites after topping their group with seven points.

Algeria and Ghana will face off in the third quarter-final on July 19 at the Berkane Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 17:00 local time. Algeria, who are featuring in the WAFCON quarter-finals for the first time, have been one of the surprise packages of the tournament. Meanwhile, Ghana will be aiming to reach the semi-finals for the first time since 2016.

Defending champions South Africa will round off the quarter-final stage against Senegal at the Stade de l’Honneur in Oujda. Senegal advanced as one of the best third-placed teams. Banyana Banyana are favourites to progress, with a potential semi-final showdown against Nigeria on the horizon—a clash that would renew one of African women’s football’s fiercest rivalries.

All eyes now turn to the knockout stage, where the race to lift the WAFCON trophy enters a decisive phase.
