“Let us be clear: Israel will not bow to the distorted campaign of international pressure against it. We will not sacrifice our very existence by permitting the imposition of a jihadist state on our ancestral homeland that seeks our annihilation,” said Ambassador Iddo Moed
“Recognizing a Palestinian state in the absence of accountable government, functioning institutions, or benevolent leadership, rewards and legitimizes the monstrous barbarity of Hamas on October 7, 2023. It punishes Israeli and Palestinian victims of Hamas, vindicates Hamas’ Western sympathizers fuelling antisemitism, and hardens Hamas’ position at the negotiation table at a most critical time.
“As Prime Minister Mark Carney stated, a Palestinian state must live “side by side in security with Israel” and “recognize the right of Israel to exist.” President Abbas’ latest vision for the future sharply contrasts with the Palestinian Authority’s long-standing record; thus, it is hard to see his newfound ‘commitments’ as more than a thinly veiled strategy to maintain the status quo with the sympathy and support of the international community. Canada and its allies should not be under illusion otherwise.
“Throughout this war, Israel has been an active partner in humanitarian aid delivery to Gaza consistent with its responsibilities under international law. Since July 24, 2025, Israel has facilitated the movement of more than 600 trucks and 70 airdropped pallets; however, the United Nations has repeatedly refused to distribute much of this aid. We continue to work with our partners on the ground to tangibly and meaningfully address the humanitarian situation in Gaza.”
