Chelsea Football Club has confirmed has signing 19-year-old Dutch defender Jorrel Hato from Ajax Amsterdam for €43 million.

In a post on X the football club wrote: “Chelsea is delighted to announce the signing of Netherlands international Jorrel Hato from Ajax.”

Hato, a versatile player capable of playing as a center-back or left-back, agreed to a seven-year contract that extends until 2032.

Hato becomes Chelsea’s 49th incoming signing in the last 4 years, while his acquisition represents the club’s eighth signing in the current transfer window, enhancing their defensive options.

The Dutch left-back in an interview expressed his feelings at being the latest member of the club: “I thought a lot about my future and wanted to take the next step in my career, Chelsea is the best place for me to do that so I’m very happy!”.

Chelsea FC affirmed his eagerness in a post writing:  “Ready to make his mark.

Hato is the first Chelsea player to rock the new gold World Champions badge.
