Sunderland submitted a €32 million bid for Abdul Fatawu, but Leicester City rejected the offer, as they consider him untouchable. The club values him highly and views him as a key part of their long-term project. The Championship side will only consider selling him go for at least €45 million.
A move to Sunderland would have given Fatawu a chance to play Premier League football—an opportunity that might have been appealing after his limited game time last season due to an ACL injury. The injury sidelined him for 260 days, causing him to miss 29 games across all competitions.
So far this season, Fatawu has featured in two EFL Championship matches.
