Nigeria Immigration Hikes Passport Fees To ₦100,000, ₦200,000 Effective September 1

The Federal Government has approved a significant upward review of the cost of obtaining the Nigerian Standard Passport, with the new rates set to take effect on September 1, 2025. The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) announced the new fees, which will see the 32-page passport jump to ₦100,000 and the 64-page passport rise to ₦200,000.

According to a statement signed by the Service Public Relations Officer, ACI AS Akinlabi, on Thursday, the new fees will apply only to applications made within Nigeria.

“The review which only affect Passport Application fees made in Nigeria, now set a new fee threshold for 32-page with 5-year validity at N100,000 and 64-page with 10-year validity at N200,000,” the statement read.

However, the statement clarified that application fees for Nigerians in the diaspora remain unchanged at $150 for the 32-page, five-year passport and $230 for the 64-page, 10-year passport.

The NIS explain that the fee hike is part of its efforts to “uphold the quality and integrity of the Nigerian Standard Passport.” This latest increase comes less than a year after a similar review in September 2024, which had raised the passport fees to ₦50,000 and ₦100,000.
