Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement with Bayern Munich for the signing of João Palhinha, according to Florian Plettenberg. It will be a loan move with an option-to-buy clause. The deal includes a guaranteed fee of €25 million if the buy option is triggered, plus €5 million in bonuses.
Palhinha’s €10 million salary will be fully covered by Tottenham. His medical is expected to take place in the coming days.
The move to Tottenham signifies a chance for Palhinha to revive his career. He joined Bayern Munich last season from Fulham. The 30-year-old struggled at the German club, playing only 17 league games and making just seven appearances as a starter.
Newly appointed Tottenham head coach Thomas Frank will hope Palhinha can rediscover his form and bring his quality to a squad competing in four competitions this season: the Champions League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, and the Premier League.
