Villarreal are keen to sign Chelsea defender Renato Veiga and have reached an agreement on personal terms with the 22-year-old.
The Spanish club has submitted a €24 million bid plus add-ons to Chelsea, aiming to raise the total to around €30 million.
Veiga has been out of Chelsea’s plans for some time. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Juventus and was excluded from Chelsea’s Club World Cup squad upon his return. He originally joined Chelsea from Basel for a fee of €14 million.
The 22-year-old has played only 18 matches for Chelsea. Primarily a centre-back, Veiga can also operate as a defensive midfielder, left-back, or right-back when needed.
He is a fully capped Portugal international, earning five caps and was part of the squad that won the UEFA Nations League this summer.
