Carlos Alcaraz defeated Jannik Sinner to win the US Open, claiming his second title at Flushing Meadows and his sixth Grand Slam overall. The victory also propels the Spaniard back to world number one. He won the final in four sets, with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 scoreline.
This match marked the 15th meeting between the two players, with Alcaraz now leading their head-to-head 10–5.
Following the win, Alcaraz praised Sinner in his on-court interview. He said:
“I want to start with Jannik. It’s unbelievable what you’re doing the whole season — great level during every tournament that you’re playing… I’m seeing you more than my family.”
He added:
“It’s great to share a court, to share the locker room, to share everything with you. I’m just really proud of the people I have around me. Every achievement I’m having is because of you, thanks to you… This one is yours.”
It was a frustrating night for Sinner, as this marked his second loss to Alcaraz in just two months. He was also defeated by the 22-year-old in the French Open final in June.
