Antony Spoils Nottingham Forest’s Memorable European Return

Real Betis and Nottingham Forest shared the spoils in their first UEFA Europa League game of the season. The match marked Nottingham Forest return to European football for the first time since 1996, back when the competition was known as the UEFA Cup.

Cedric Bakambu broke the deadlock in the 15th minute, but Forest responded quickly. Just three minutes later, Igor Jesus drew them level, and in the 23rd minute, he gave the visitors the lead with his second goal of the night.

The game appeared to be heading in favour of the Premier League side until Antony stunned the Forest faithful in the 85th minute. The winger unleashed a thunderbolt strike following a precise pass from Marc Roca, leaving Matz Sels with no chance.

Antony was undoubtedly the standout performer on the night. In addition to his goal, he also registered an assist, completed 37 passes including two into the final third and created two chances. He successfully completed six dribbles and put in a strong defensive shift with six ball recoveries, 100% tackle success, and two interceptions.

Real Betis’ next Europa League fixture is scheduled for October 2nd, when they face Bulgarian side PFC Ludogorets Razgrad at the Ludogorets Arena. The match is expected to draw a crowd of at least 10,423 fans.
