Ebola is a virus that cause grievous bleeding, organ failure and can lead to death, It’s on the loose again after 4years of hibernating.
The first case appeared in Democratic Republic of Congo Kasai province, infecting a 34-year-old pregnant woman who was admitted to the hospital on august 20,2025 in Bulape, after five days she was reported dead, likewise the health workers who treated her.
As at Today, September 15, 2025, there are 81 confirmed cases and 28 deaths, four health workers in Bulape inclusive.
Here are a few tips on recognizing the symptoms and treatment
EBOLA SYMPTOMS
- Muscle pain
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Shock
- Bleeding
- Abdominal pain
- Rash
- Headache
- Sore throat.
EBOLA CAUSES
Humans mostly get infected after the contact with animals like-
- Antelopes
- Bats
- Chimpanzees
- Porcupines
Ebola also spreads through direct contact with blood, or other body fluids. It takes between 2-21 days for symptoms to appear.
This time the WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION(WHO) is supporting vaccination efforts, sending 400 doses, with more to follow.
The vaccine is 95% effective if given 12 or more days after exposure.
TREATMENT
- Isolation after detection.
- Monoclonal antibody therapies.
- Intravenous fluids and electrolytes to maintain hydration.
- Treatment for any other infections that may occur.
COMMUNITY MEASURES
- Safe burial practices.
- Hygiene and sanitation.
Without early treatment, the death rate can reach 50-90%, and it depends on the availability of high-quality health care.
