The M/Y Dolce Vento, a 79-foot luxury motor yacht built by Medyılmaz Shipyard in Turkey over five months, valued at around $1 million USD and had just been delivered from Istanbul to its owner, Sank 15 Minutes After Its Maiden Launch
The sinking occurred on September 2, 2025, off the coast of Ereğli in Zonguldak province, northern Turkey, in the Black Sea, about 200 meters from shore.
The yacht ultimately sank to a depth of about seven meters. On board were the owner, the captain, and two crew members (four people total), all of whom jumped overboard, swam to shore safely, and escaped without injuries.
The cause is still under investigation, with local reports pointing to a stabilization issue—possibly related to metacentric height miscalculations, weight distribution errors, or other design/technical flaws—as the yacht began taking on water shortly after launch.
