21-year-old University of Kentucky student, Laken Snelling has been charged with abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence, and concealing the birth of an infant.

Snelling is facing charges after police says she hid her infant’s body in a trash bag inside a closet.

The Lexington Police Department says officers received a call for an unresponsive infant on Wednesday, who was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The school confirm her membership in a statement: “We can confirm that she has been a member of the STUNT team for the last three seasons. All other questions should be directed to the Lexington Police.”

During her interview with police, Snelling “admitted to giving birth.”

According to the citation, the “infant was located wrapped in a towel inside of a black trash bag.”

Police say the Fayette County Coroner’s Office is still determining the infant’s cause of death.
