Pressure continues to pile on Diego Simeone as his Atlético Madrid side was held to a 1-1 draw by Mallorca. Conor Gallagher was on the scoresheet for Atlético Madrid, while Vedat Muriqi netted for the hosts.
It’s now three draws, one win, and one loss for Atlético Madrid, which leaves them in 12th place on six points.
After the match, Diego Simeone urged fans to remain patient:
“We are trying to build a new team. Many players have arrived and that’s the process we are in. We’re on the right path, and we hope that efficiency and decisiveness will bring us closer to the results we are not yet getting.”
Club captain Koke emphasized that the team has been playing well and that there is still plenty of time to turn the results around:
“From my point of view, we played a great match, but the ball just didn’t want to go in. The point doesn’t mean much to us.”
“We’ve lost a lot of points, but there’s still a long way to go until May. Football has to give it back to us because we are working very well.”
Midfielder Pablo Barrios also asked fans for their continued support:
“I ask the Atlético Madrid fans to trust us. The results will come. The work we are doing is good.”
Atlético Madrid will face Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday in what is now a must win game. Anything less than three points will not be acceptable.
