The president of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has in a post extended his congratulatory message to Gahr Stoere, the prime minister of Norway on winning the second term bid.
Stoere won a second term in office in a closely-fought parliamentary election after surviving years of turmoil in his cabinet .
Zelenskyy who looked forward to working with the country for economic development appreciate what both countries achieved together in bilateral ties.
Ukraine president wrote: “Congratulations to Jonas Gahr Stoere on the election results. Wishing you continued success in serving the people of Norway. We are grateful for what we have already achieved together for the security of our nations and the wider region, and look forward to continuing this important work.”
Stoere’s second term in office comes after a fiercely contested election, surviving internal party strife, Cabinet scandals and an attempted leadership coup to cling to power.
“We did it,” the 65-year-old leader exclaimed at an election night rally after Labour came out on top, with about 28 percent of votes, which enabled him to remain in power with the support of four other left-wing parties.
Labour supporters gathered to celebrate with Stoere thanking his supporters and said the victory showed that it was possible for Social Democratic parties to win elections.
