UN General Assembly Votes To Endorse The New York Declaration On The Peaceful Settlement Of The Question Of Palestine And The Implementation Of The Two-State Solution.

The Assembly convened today and passed the “New York Declaration” by a vote of 142 in favor, 10 against, and 12 abstentions.

In favor: UK, France, Australia, China, India, Pakistan. Against: US, Israel, Argentina, Hungary and others.

The declaration addresses the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the implementation of a two-state solution.

The proposal, introduced by France and Saudi Arabia, was first adopted at the New York Conference held in July. It outlines an action plan intended, according to its sponsors, to establish an “irreversible” path toward the creation of a Palestinian state.

Israel’s Ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, spoke at the assembly and strongly criticized the decision:

“This is a hollow proposal that completely ignores reality… it is not diplomacy. This is a unilateral declaration that embraces the lies of our enemies and gives backing to Hamas.

“This proposal does not bring peace closer; it prolongs the war. When Hamas is the one cheering these decisions, it is clear that this is a prize for terror, not a step toward peace.”
