Aston Villa are currently in discussions over new contracts for key players John McGinn and Morgan Rogers. According to Fabrizio Romano, an agreement with McGinn is close, with the proposed deal expected to run until 2027. McGinn, who is the club captain, has been a central figure at Villa since joining in 2018 during their time in the EFL Championship. He has played a major role in their journey to the Premier League and the Champions League. A contract extension would be a big news for supporters.
Meanwhile talks with Rogers are still in the early stages. Although the 23 year old is already under contract until 2030, Aston Villa are aiming to extend his deal by an additional year to 2031. This comes amid reported interest from top Premier League clubs.
Rogers joined Aston Villa from Middlesbrough in February 2021 for an initial fee of £8 million, which could rise to £15 million based on performance related add ons. He is one of the most important players in Unai Emery’s project . His progress was recognised with a first call up to the England national team on 11 November 2024.
