Boxing legend Mike Tyson arrived in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, this week after DNA testing revealed approximately 80% Congolese heritage.
Tyson posted about his trip on X, described the people and the warm welcome he received, in his words: “My trip to Congo was a life-changing experience. The people there are beautiful! I look forward to returning.
“Very thankful to have met the president, @Presidence_RDC.” He appreciated
His visit coincided with the 50th anniversary celebrations of the 1974 Rumble in the Jungle, where Muhammad Ali defeated George Foreman, and included a meeting with President Felix Tshisekedi, who welcomed him as a son of the soil.
“Before my DNA test, I knew almost nothing about Congo except the Ali vs. Foreman fight” he revealed.
Tyson participated in public events, wore traditional attire, and expressed a deep connection to the local culture amid enthusiastic crowds.
