England Confirms Chelsea Captain Reece James Withdrawal From The Squad After Suffering An Injury Against Liverpool, Manchester Nico O’Reilly To Replace Him

Chelsea captain Reece James has withdrawn from England’s World Cup qualifiers against Wales and Latvia after sustaining an injury during Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Liverpool on Saturday.

England terse statement on X read: “A squad update from St. George’s Park, as Nico O’Reilly is added to our ThreeLions squad, with Reece James withdrawing through injury.”

The 25-year-old right-back, who played the full 90 minutes, will return to his club for further medical evaluation.

Manchester City’s 20-year-old Nico O’Reilly replaces him, marking his first senior England call-up after 30 appearances this season.
