FIFA Rankings Update: Nigeria Climbs To 5th In Africa After Key Victories

Nigeria has made a significant move in the latest FIFA rankings, climbing to 5th in Africa and 41st in the world following their recent World Cup qualifying wins over Lesotho and Benin Republic.

The Super Eagles now trail just behind four African nations  Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, and Algeria  all of whom have already booked their tickets to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

With renewed momentum, Nigeria will be aiming to secure a World Cup spot by winning the CAF Playoffs in November, which would see them advance to the Intercontinental Playoffs Final in March.

  •  Senegal — 18th in the World
  • Egypt — 32nd in the World
  •  Algeria — 35th in the World
  •  Nigeria — 41st in the World

  •  Mali — 53rd in the World
  •  Cameroon — 54th in the World
  1. South Africa — 59th in the World

All eyes will now be on the Super Eagles as they prepare for the playoffs, with hopes of joining Africa’s elite on the grandest football stage.
