Jordi Alba has announced that he will retire from professional football at the end of the current season. The left-back confirmed the news on Tuesday through a video posted on his official Instagram account.
Alba spent the majority of his career at FC Barcelona, where he played for 11 years and enjoyed significant success. During his time at the club, he won six La Liga titles, five Copa del Rey trophies, one UEFA Champions League title, and one FIFA Club World Cup.
On the international stage, Alba was also highly decorated winning the UEFA Euro 2012 and UEFA Nations League in 2023.
The 36-year-old helped Inter Miami to win the 2023 Leagues Cup and the 2024 Supporters’ Shield. Alba now hopes to conclude his career by guiding Inter Miami to success in the MLS Cup Playoffs before officially hanging up his boots.
