Air Vice Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke is the Chief of Air Staff (CAS) of the Nigerian Air Force, appointed by President Bola Tinubu on October 24, 2025. He previously served as the Air Officer Commanding Mobility Command.
Profile and education
Air Vice Marshal Aneke was born on February 20, 1972, in Makurdi, Benue State, and hails from Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State.

He enlisted in the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in 1988 and was commissioned as a Pilot Officer in the Nigerian Air Force in 1993. He holds multiple degrees, including a Bachelor of Science in Physics and master’s degrees in International Affairs and Diplomacy, Political Economy and Developmental Studies, and Strategic Studies from institutions including Ahmadu Bello University, the University of Abuja, and the Air War College in the United States.
Key roles and contributions
Aneke became Chief of Air Staff in October 2025 during a significant change in Nigeria’s military leadership. Before this appointment, he held the position of Air Officer Commanding Mobility Command, Yenegoa.
