Rangers have confirmed the appointment of Danny Rohl as their new head coach. The club had been without a manager since parting ways with Russell Martin on October 5.
The decision has raised questions among some supporters, as Rohl’s managerial experience is limited. He previously managed only Sheffield Wednesday, where he spent two seasons. After taking over in October 2023, he kept the club in the EFL Championship under challenging circumstances. In the 2024–2025 season, he guided them to a 12th-place finish.
This appointment marks a significant step in the German’s coaching career. Speaking to BBC after signing his contract, Rohl said:
“It is a huge privilege at an incredible club, recognised around the world. I know it has been a difficult start to the season, but there is still so much to play for.
“The expectations here are clear. The fans want to see results now. My mentality and experience is to think in exactly the same way.
“We have no time to waste. We start straight away. I respect that trust is earned and understand we have to give the supporters confidence in what we are doing by showing it on the pitch from the start.”
Rohl’s first match in charge will be against Norwegian side Brann in the Europa League. A victory could help win over the fans early in his tenure.
