Mohamed Salah has helped Egypt secure their place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after scoring twice in a 3-0 victory over Djibouti. The result confirms the Pharaohs’ qualification, with one game left to play in Group A.
Liverpool star Salah was instrumental once again, leading by example as Egypt wrapped up a dominant qualifying campaign. This will be his second World Cup appearance, following his debut in 2018, where injury limited him to just one match as Egypt exited in the group stage.
The win also marks a historic achievement for head coach Hossam Hassan, who becomes the first Egyptian to help the national team qualify for the World Cup both as a player and a manager.
Egypt have been the standout team in Group A, winning seven of their nine matches, collecting 23 points, and conceding just twice throughout the campaign.
With qualification now sealed, the Pharaohs will turn their focus to preparing for a stronger showing at the 2026 World Cup, with Salah and a new generation of talent aiming to make a deep run in the tournament.
