Chelsea Trash Barcelona 3–0 : Maresca Praises Tactical Execution After Champions League Win

Chelsea FC delivered a commanding 3–0 victory over FC Barcelona in their UEFA Champions League game‑week five clash at Stamford Bridge. The Blues opened the scoring in the 27th minute when a low cross from Pedro Neto triggered a defensive scramble and resulted in an own goal from Jules Koundé. In the second half, Estêvão Willian netted a brilliant strike in the 55th minute from a tight angle, and Liam Delap sealed the victory with a composed finish in the 73rd minute  assisted by Enzo Fernández.

In his post‑match remarks, manager Enzo Maresca described the win as “a good win,” but stressed that it should be seen as part of the bigger picture. He said the club’s identity and long‑term goals remain unchanged, regardless of the result.

Maresca explained that the team’s tactical approach focused on denying Barcelona possession a key component, he argued, because Barcelona struggle when they don’t have the ball. Even in eleven versus eleven situations, Chelsea maintained control and pushed their advantage.

He added that the victory should not lead to complacency: players were told to “switch off” and rest for 48 hours  then begin preparation for their next challenge.
