Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy has reacted to the backlash he received for kicking out couple attendee for sleeping during his show.

His action has been attracting criticisms after the lady involved claimed the incident affected her negatively.

The singer in a livestream on Instagram addressing the issue that he did not force anyone to be his fan, emphasizing that no one is compelled to support or love him.

“Did I tell you all to be my fans? I am only looking for fans who have money this period,” he said.

He further revealed that if he were to seek new fans and supporters, he would prefer those who “have money this period,” explaining “pepper dey body,” a Nigerian way of saying life is tough right now.

This isn’t the first time the singer would be involved in a controversy with a fan. He previously made similar headlines after he kicked a starstruck male fan who stormed the stage to hug him while he was performing.

Burna Boy also once asked a fan to leave his concert for not dancing while he was performing.

He didn’t apologize for either occasion.
