The Chief Press Secretary to Lagos Governor, Gboyega Akosile, has publicly denied a viral flyer claiming there’s been a spike in kidnappings along the Gbagada Expressway. He says the memo circulating online did not come from the Lagos State Government.
According to the flyer, commuters are being urged to “avoid late-night travel” and even switch routes, but officials say it was all fabricated.
Lagos State Police Command also weighed in — their spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, called the advisory “fake and recycled”. The same false alert was reportedly debunked back in January 2024 and September 2024.
Still, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has ordered a security review along the expressway to reassure Lagosians .
