The Nigerian Air Force –NAF– conducted precision airstrikes under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, targeting the Sauri bandit camp in Zamfara State’s Tsafe Local Government Area, neutralizing numerous terrorists and disrupting their logistics hub without civilian casualties on Friday.
NAF in a press statement confirmed that: “The mission was undertaken after comprehensive intelligence and surveillance operations confirmed significant terrorist activity and rustled livestock concealed on a high-ground hideout used by the criminals as both a defensive position and a logistics hub. Acting on this intelligence, the Air Component executed multiple coordinated strike passes on the identified targets, achieving direct hits that dislodged surviving terrorists attempting to flee into surrounding vegetation, where they were subsequently tracked and effectively engaged.”
According to the public relations spokesperson Ehimen Ejodame: “The successful mission resulted in the neutralisation of numerous terrorists and the destruction of critical structures and logistics points, significantly degrading the criminals’ operational capability in the area.
“This decisive action reinforces the commitment of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, who has consistently pledged that the NAF will “find them, hunt them down, and protect our people.” The operation underscores the unwavering resolve of the Joint Task Force and the NAF under Operation FANSAN YAMMA to deny terrorists safe havens, strengthen security in Zamfara State, and support wider national efforts to restore lasting peace and stability across the North West.
The operation followed a visit by Chief of the Air Staff Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, who emphasized relentless pursuit of insurgents amid ongoing insecurity in Nigeria’s northwest.
Aneke reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s determination to eliminate terrorists, insurgents, and criminal elements threatening national stability.
He charged personnel to intensify efforts in line with the directive of the President and Commander-in-Chief, His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to decisively neutralise all threats to Nigerians.
Emphasising that heightened security complexities and the sacrifices of fallen heroes demand unwavering focus, he stressed that federal support through modern platforms, advanced weaponry, and enhanced training must translate into ruthless precision and operational dominance. “We cannot relent for a moment,” he cautioned.
“The nation is counting on us to restore peace and reclaim every inch of territory challenged by insurgents and criminals.
“Wherever they hide, whether in forests, valleys, or remote villages, our forces will find them, and we will strike with precision. Our mission is clear: to hunt them down and to protect our people.” Aneke declared
