Tinubu Names Fani-Kayode, Former INEC chairman Yakubu, Reno Omokri, Others As Ambassadors

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of 32 new ambassadors in a sweeping diplomatic reshuffle designed to reposition Nigeria’s foreign engagements and strengthen its presence in key global arenas.

Among those newly nominated are notable political figures and former government officials, including former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode, former presidential media aide Reno Omokri, former INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, and former Enugu State Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

Also on the list are former Ekiti First Lady Erelu Angela Adebayo, former Oyo First Lady Fatima Florence Ajimobi, and former Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, among several others.

According to details obtained by Lagos Reporters, the fresh batch comprises 15 career ambassadors and 17 non-career ambassadors, with 10 women featured across both groups. The nominations have been forwarded to the Senate for screening and confirmation.

The new envoys are expected to be deployed to strategic international missions including China, India, United Arab Emirates, Canada, South Africa, as well as multilateral bodies such as the United Nations, the African Union, and UNESCO.

This move aligns with President Tinubu’s ongoing efforts to recalibrate Nigeria’s diplomatic posture, deepen international alliances, and project national interests across economic, political, and security dimensions.
