Professor Wahab Egbewole, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, announced plans on Thursday to introduce new buses and electric vehicles, responding to transportation challenges following the October relocation of the main parking area to enhance campus security.
The move aims to alleviate longer walks, higher costs, and overcrowded shuttles affecting over 35,000 students and staff across the 5,000-hectare campus.
While the Students’ Union praised the initiative for prioritizing welfare and innovation, some students expressed concerns over its timing and logistical preparations like charging stations.
