The Vice President of United States JD Vance, a former Marine, visited Fort Campbell in Kentucky with wife Usha and their children to serve holiday meals to troops and families ahead of Thanksgiving.
During his speech Vance jokingly acknowledge that Turkey is not an everyday meal because of its bland taste, however it will be eaten for thanksgiving because it’s an American tradition: “Who REALLY likes turkey? Be honest. You’re all full of shit, everyone who raised your hand! Here’s how I know. How many times do you roast an 18-pound turkey randomly? Nobody does it because turkey doesn’t actually taste that good!
“But on the most American holiday, we’re gonna cook a turkey, by God, because that’s what Americans DO!” he emphasised.
The V.P and his family had helped with carving turkeys, dished out sides, and created a festive scene with pumpkins and warm trays while he encouraged troops to think independently in their service.
During his encouraging speech, Vance pointed out: “We don’t just want people who mindlessly follow orders… we want people who think, because we know that the most powerful weapon in United States arsenal, the most powerful weapon anywhere in the world, it’s not a rifle, it’s not a helicopter or airplane, the most dangerous and legal weapon anywhere in the world is the United States soldiers and we are proud of you.”
The visit offered a personal thank-you to service members far from home.
